Cannabis Sativa Oil - CBD

Cannabis Sativa Oil - CBD

About:
In early 2019, Holland and Barrett released a CBD infused cosmetic line, contributing to the ever growing spread of retailers joining in on the natural benefits of the Cannabis Sativa plant. Whilst the use of the plant has been widely scrutinised, as the Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis, which gives you the feeling of being "high". CBD, however, is not psychoactive..... (sorry!).

CBD, especially in combination with THC, may be effective in reducing pain associated with diseases like multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. It has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression in both human and animal studies and may have beneficial effects on acne due to its anti-inflammatory qualities and its ability to control the overproduction of sebum from the sebaceous glands. Though research is limited at this time, CBD has been shown to ease symptoms related to epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease. It was also shown to reduce the progression of Alzheimer’s disease in test-tube and animal studies.

Product:
The Ecoco product sold in Boots is the Eco Style CBD Oil. This product is a huge bottle of oil that can be applied topically to both the face and body. It also contains nourishing ingredients like macadamia nut oil, linalool, and cannabis sativa extract and can be massaged into the hair or the skin to moisturise and nourish the body. Using all-natural ingredients, this is a high-quality treatment. High in vitamin E and fatty acids, CBD Oil nourishes the scalp and strengthens hair, thereby encouraging hair growth. Inside CBD Oil are omega-3, omega-6 and the omega-9 acids, which help improve the quality of the scalp tissue. Stronger scalp tissue means hair follicles expanding faster which means longer hair.

The 59ml bottle costs just £14.70. In fact, the 25ppm of CBD works out at just 25mg per litre, and the bottle is much smaller than that! Sadly, this does mean that you’re not getting a lot of CBD. Nevertheless, the cannabis sativa extract will still benefit your skin and hair.

Review:
I’ve now been using this product from Mid-December on my hair and face as part of my daily routine.  It has a sweet smell to the oil, so you don’t have to worry about the ‘bait’ smell associated with the plant. The oil is somewhat thick to be used daily on the face and takes a while to absorb into the skin, so I use it on my face every other or third day and switch between my LancĂ´me Vision air serum. If you have dry skin, this will benefit you a lot but I would recommend using it at night for maximum benefit.
