Why don't you love me - a poem by Phoebe

This is a poem, written and presentented by my lovely friend Pheobe. As soon as I saw this video I instantly felt the need to reach out to her as the hairs on the back of my neck stood up only then for the tear duct opened. I listened deeply and intently, absorbing the words she spoke, taken in the words that were not spoken also, which is what I related to.

We tend to walk this life, having conversations with people along the way having the assumption that all is well in their world, only if we could walk two miles in that persons shoes to know the true them, the REAL them.

If you’ve ever experienced abandonment in your life you will know how far the wounds of being “second best” or “not worth it” run within you. You will be aware of how feeling unwanted has changed the person you are and the way you interact with others.

I had to tell her and I will reiterate it now to you, on the days when you feel unloved, remember that you are worthy of love, you are. Even when you feel at your lowest and you can’t quite remember what it feels like to experience love in its purest, unconditional form.

You are deserving of a person to talk to on the other end of the phone, find that one person in your life who you are comfortable with, even if it someone you thought you wouldn't share the same life stories, I bet you they'll surprise you! You are deserving of a comforting hand to squeeze as you cross that busy road, and the biggest bear hug when you just need someone to quietly let you know everything’s gonna be okay.

You are worthy of coming home to the face of someone who adores the bones of you at the end of each day, someone to bear some of the weight of your deepest fears alongside you, and someone who you trust to catch you should you ever fall.

On the days when you feel unloved, remember that you are loveable. You are not broken and you don't need to be fixed. Yes, you are flawed, but you are not a flaw, you are still a good human. You’re doing the best you can, battling with your own demons and that’s all any of us can hope to do on life.

Your flaws and imperfections are loveable as you are perfectly imperfect! Your mood swings, your fiery temper and your clumsiness are all loveable. Your mistakes and your f*%k-ups are only helping you to grow into that stronger, wiser you today than you were the day before. They do not break you – they cleanse you. No matter how many more you continue to make, I promise you are still loveable.

I want you to know that void you feel deep within you that aches to be filled, can only truly be filled up by YOU, so love yourself like you mean it. Love yourself when you’re utterly alone in the darkness, desperately searching for the light. Love yourself when those salty tears are cascading down your face and you’re not sure how to make them stop. Love yourself through all of your highs, and your lowest of lows.

On the days when you feel unloved, I want you to know that you will be your own saviour....

Thank you Pheobe,
LOVE ALWAYS,
Bri
